The Walmart Scandal; Mothers Day 2024

As of May 1st our friends at select Walmart stores have had to issue a recall of all raw Cargill Meat Solutions products worldwide. If you're new here, my name is Laurin and I L-O-V-E Walmart. As the superstore of all grocery stores, Walmart has had its fair share of product mishaps, but who hasn't.

There was the electric water kettle recall of 2016, the chicken fried rice recall of 2023, and the tripod stool recall also of 2016. Walmart says it does it's best to act fast when products are not up to acceptable standards for human use or consumption and says they
"work swiftly to block the item from being sold and remove it from our stores and clubs."

In this case, the most recent scandal involves almost 17,000 lbs of raw contaminated meat being sold at stores across the United States.

WASHINGTON, May 1, 2024 - Cargill Meat Solutions, a Hazleton, Pa., establishment, is recalling approximately 16,243 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

But to be clear this is not a smear campaign. As an avid Walmartarian myself, I'm more so shocked at the distributor and supplier that did not implement better measures to prevent this from happening. With the time lapse of a few days and the latest date of bad meat going out on April 27th, several people and circumstances could have been severely impacted due to the gross negligence on both parties behalf. The states that could have possible been affected have been listed as, but not limited to,

  • Connecticut
  • Massachusetts
  • Maryland
  • New Hampshire
  • North Carolina
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Virginia
  • Vermont
  • Washington, D.C.
  • West Virginia
North Carolina alone has 214 stores that felt the impact of this recall.

The meat that has been recalled has been listed as
  • 2.25-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing "93% LEAN 7% FAT ALL NATURAL LEAN GROUND BEEF" with lot code 117 and establishment number "EST. 86P" printed on the back of the label.
  • 1.33-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing four "PRIME RIB BEEF STEAK BURGERS PATTIES" with lot code 118 and establishment number "EST. 86P" printed on the back of the label.
  • 2.25-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing "85% LEAN 15% FAT ALL NATURAL ANGUS PREMIUM GROUND BEEF" with lot code 117 and establishment number "EST. 86P" printed on the back of the label.
  • 2.25-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing "80% LEAN 20% FAT ALL NATURAL GROUND BEEF CHUCK" with lot code 118 and establishment number "EST. 86P" printed on the back of the label.
  • 1.33-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing four "80% LEAN 20% FAT ALL NATURAL GROUND BEEF CHUCK PATTIES" with lot code 118 and establishment number "EST. 86P" printed on the back of the label.
  • 1.33-lbs. plastic-wrapped trays containing four "90% LEAN 10% FAT

ALL NATURAL GROUND BEEF    SIRLOIN PATTIES" with lot code 118 and establishment number "EST. 86P" printed on the back of the label.
The issue reported to the FSIS was done

so on the grounds of previously

segregated meat being incorporated

into meat for sale and distribution

nationwide.

Be weary of purchasing this brand of

product at least for another 2 weeks.
