What Does Your Favorite James Marsden Movie Say About You?
Can we all just take a minute, and appreciate the awesomeness that is James Marsden? In a world of Hollywood actors that play the same roles over and over just at different times, I can only take my hat off to Marsden for his versatility and relatability. Being a mother now, I didn't realize I would be carrying over this household name to the screens of my children, but here we are, turning on the television to rewatch Sonic for the 8th time this week. Now, you may not have noticed how often you see this face, because it's always been handsomely disguised as a distraction in the true meaning of the movie, but if you agree with this statement then this may be the read for you. In a few short lines or less, I'm going to tell you what I believe your favorite James Marsden movie says about you. If you agree, I encourage you to go back and watch it; giving our friend his residual flowers, and if you disagree, then prove me wrong. Go watch the movie I assigned to you and find out why this truth hurt so bad! Ready? Let's go!
Ah the notebook. Insert dreamy eyes here, am I right? I don't think I'm incorrect when I say we have ALL seen the notebook. But, like I challenged you to in the beginning, if you think you haven't, feel free to watch it and I'll bet you find a scene in there which makes you say "hmm, I think I have seen this." (I love when that happens.) Nevertheless, this movie stars Marsden alongside the lovely Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, two young teens written in the 50's, trying to figure out a way to make summer love last forever. We've all been there, am I right? Marsden plays Lon, an injured soldier who is lucky enough to have encountered McAdams, who plays Allie. The pair share some great years and even greater times while Allie attempts to purge her true love out of her system, for the sake of family approval. If The Notebook is your favorite James Marsden movie, you know as well as I how much of a hopeless romantic you are. You my friend, are aware of the placeholders people can play in others' lives. You understand that nothing is forever, and living in the present will give you the most priceless memories you never could buy. If this is your favorite movie you believe in life and love. You know that life is a carefully controlled roller coaster, and all you have to do, is take your seat, close your eyes, and enjoy the ride. While you still can. Was I right? I know. Okay. NEXT!
Shock and Awe is a film based off of its literal definition, which Wikipedia states is a military strategy based on the use of overwhelming power and spectacular displays of force to paralyze the enemy's perception of the battlefield and destroy their will to fight. Simply put, it's a tactic to instill fear in the opposing side. The message of this movie, I feel, is one that needs to be paid attention to, however with such great actors like Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, and Marsden, the message can easily be lost. The trio goes against unthinkable measures and tactics used by the U.S Government, in an attempt to "wake the sheep" to the deceit happening before their very eyes. The director really zooms in on the desperate propaganda they spoon fed us during 9/11, and uses Marsden as a pawn in the press working for the Washington Bureau. Marsden beautifully paints a backend story of the few good souls that try to use good judgement and the belief in human nature to exploit the media, and save any young men, foolishly looking to enlist for the wrong reasons. If Shock and Awe is your favorite James Marsden movie, I know you love Pad Thai a little more than I, and you're a bit paranoid 96% of the time. This being your favorite movie tells me you know how to hold it together, even when the world is against you. You know that the saying "a man's word is all he has" is a pretty standard proverb to live by, and you appreciate truth telling with evidence to back it up. I know nothing of your political siding, but I can bet my bottom dollar, you're registered to vote.
HOP
Did I go way into left field here? No. Because, we know Marsden has more range than Mariah Carey in "My All", but I digress. This is one of my favorites, personally, because this is a movie I can share with my kids and we all enjoy. The 2011 family comedy stars Marsden as a grown child, looking to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming...The Easter Bunny If this sounds too farfetched to believe, you obviously don't remember your childhood dream of becoming president. Ok, now that we're back on the same page, this is exactly why I love this movie. It's one of those feel good movies for any age, that really takes you back. You watch Marsden, alongside Russel Brand who plays an adorable CGI rabbit. The two take on a militia of fictional creatures, all gunning for the prestigious spot of the beloved Easter Bunny. Although the position is not usually filled by a human, something deep down in Marsden's core tells him that he can do it. Fur or no fur, The Easter Bunny is meant to spread joy and chocolates. And who better than an unemployed, child at heart. If Hop is your favorite movie starring James Marsden, we know you're a child at heart. I know it, you know it, your kids know it, it's public knowledge at this point. I also know that you have never been stifled by someone else's label on your life. You understand this thing is all about self belief, perseverance, faith, and, luck. Yes, luck. Contrary to popular belief, luck plays a big part in all our lives. You know as well as I do that you are your own cheerleader. If you want something bad enough, you understand the meaning of destiny, and that the very thing is probably already yours. "Hop" being your favorite movie means you're a dreamer, and you love dreaming. You know that your current life and that steamy dreamy life you see at night are much more intertwined than you know, you're just waiting on a little bit of luck.
